Watching waves from the beach can be calming; with the continuous ebb, flow and frothing as the sea water swooshes up the sand. Fata Morgana was inspired by a holiday to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. The lace and reverse stocking stitch pattern reflect the undulating waves and the halo from the mohair resembles the froth. The long sleeves add to the cosy and cuddly feel. Fata Morgana is a crop length sweater with set-in sleeves.
The sweater is worked flat in pieces: back, front and two sleeves. The pieces are worked from the twisted 1x1rib bottom edging up. The neckband is picked up from the neck cast-off edge and knitted in the round.
Fata Morgana was first published in Pom Pom Quarterly issue 30 and knit with yarn offered as yarn support from Ocean By The Sea.
